The Jena 6, update on false stories?

I know that there were a few false statements put out there by the media, like the black guy getting beat up by a 'group' of white guys. When in fact, according to the police report, one guy had attacked the black guy and then another one joined in the fight. This is just one example, atleast that I've heard is a distortion in the news media. Can someone else point out other obvious false truths in this Jena 6 case?The Jena 6, update on false stories?

Media reported that a black kid asked if he could sit under the ';white tree'; but failed to report that the principal stated that the question was posed in a ';jocular fashion.'; The media did not appear to investigate the claim that the tree was a white only tree but simply reported it as such.








Media reported three nooses, only two were hung and a black teacher described seeing both white and black students ';playing with [the nooses], pulling on them, jump-swinging from them, and putting their heads through them'; that same day.








Boys that hung the nooses did not get just three days suspension. They were isolated at an alternative school for a month, spent two weeks in inhouse suspension, served Saturday detensions, had to attend Discipline Court, were referred to Families in Need of Services, and had to have an evaluation before they were able to return to school as part of the district's Crises Management Policy Procedures. Not that the nooses really had anything at all to do with the Jena 6 anyway.








The DA did not make the statement ';With the stroke of a pen I can make life miserable on you or ruin your life.'; To the black students in the school he made it to the ENTIRE student body at an assembly and the quote is made out of context, the entire quote is:





';I can be your best friend or your worst enemy. With the stroke of a pen I can make life miserable on you or ruin your life. So I want you to call me before you do something stupid.';








Micheal Bell was reported as having no priors. He had 4 priors for violent crimes.








It goes on and on. The wikipedia article is the most unbiased I've seen giving the facts without trying to spin one way or another.
