Isn't it irresponsible for CNN to do a story they know is false?

since when does freedom of speech cover slander, and lies, they knew the story the did about racism wasn't true and the did the story anways that makes is a lie and slander.

Should they be fined?Isn't it irresponsible for CNN to do a story they know is false?
CNN was never good to begin with really......Isn't it irresponsible for CNN to do a story they know is false?
Would be interesting to know what story you are referring to. Should they be fined? Well, Dan Rather got canned over the Bush story and not confirming the facts. Anything is possible, but again would be interesting to know which story. I haven't read anything about CNN doing a falsified story. That certainly would have made the papers.
What particular news story are you referring to?
Well, first of all, which story are you talking about. A source would be nice. Secondly, just saying the story is false without backing it up with research or facts make it your OPINION. You do know the difference between fact and opinion, don't you? You are sharing your OPINION. CNN's report was based on FACT. Got it?

Besides, have you ever watched Fox News? Holy Crap! Their stories are almost completely fictionalized and dumbed down for their viewers. Not to mention that they let O'Reilly and Hannity pass off their own fiction as fact. They're completely biased and the worst network out there. Just because they say they're ';fair and balanced'; doesn't make it true. That's their OPINION. The majority of Americans don't share that opinion.
Yeah, what story are you talking about?
well sometimes they get a fall guy, like dan rather
How can you know they know the story they did was not true? They must have got sources and can easily blame the sources. That is journalism you can not publish a story without a source.

From what I see outside US, CNN is known to always choose the source that somehow will give them benefit. They do not care if it is reliable or true. I know if someone want to claim the false on the news over CNN they may easily find the proof, but why waste times and energy.

At the end it will be your words against the CNN? Who have the authority to fine them? Just switch the channel.
Freedom of speech does not cover lies and slander. If it can be proven that damaging statements were made that they knew were false or it can be established that they showed reckless disregard for the truth, then they can be sued in civil court for damages.

Out of curiosity, what story is it?
