Old gold story.true or false....fumes and flames?

a old story i heard saying that there was fire coming out the ground in a old mexican town and it only happend when it was hot....the property owner saw large vains cracks in the ground,burned.....it was said he found gold.....can gold produce fumes or flames if burried in the ground for 100's of yearsOld gold story.true or false....fumes and flames?
No. If you take rocks that contain gold, put it in a steel container, give enough heat to melt everything inside (molten rock), and then let cool, all the gold will accumulate in one chunk at the bottom as it is heavier.

On a much larger scale this is why some areas of Earth have such large gold chunks. Whether it be a large asteroid or high pressure volcanos the gold beings to coalesce together as it sinks to the bottom.Old gold story.true or false....fumes and flames?
I wouldn't think so, gold is noted for being on of the most stable of metals. It doesn't even oxidize much, so I can't see it breaking down to fumes or flames. On the other hand, if it was found near a seam of peat or coal, or something, that might have been burning and attracted the man's attention.
