If evolution were true, then the adam and eve story is false?

And there goes the credibility of the entire bible. If evolution were true, then the adam and eve story is false?
';And there goes the credibility of the entire bible.';

** poof ** into star dust...

~If evolution were true, then the adam and eve story is false?
The ancient Hebrew word for mankind is ';adam';, which means that the modern translation into English completely misses this detail and instead creates a situation in which ';Adam'; becomes a single individual. If you understand this then you understand the modern interpretation of the story is automatically wrong. However, do you think that ';Eve'; actually was made from Adam's rib? Its a story made up by Bronze Age shepherds that were almost clueless about reproductive biology.

Btw: evolution has been proven via molecular biology and the understanding of how DNA works. ';Extinction proves evolution'; - Biology 101.

also Btw: this does not negate ALL of the Bible. Archeology has proven that the locations of battles, etc., is accurate in parts of the Bible, but it also shows that other parts are not accurate - you need to know the history to know which is which.
That is correct.

As I understand it though, keep in mind Christians cherry pick all the time, the Christians who accept evolution then see the Adam and Eve story as just that - a story, one to be taken ';symbolically'; (whatever the hell that means in this context) and, thus, can carry on taking whatever other parts of the Bible as literal or ';symbolic';.

I believe, in that case, the whole Bible should just be thrown away with.
The Adam and Eve story certainly cannot be taken literal anymore, which also questions the validity of original sin and the Fall of Man.

Most Christians who accept evolution will subscribe to a figurative version of the Adam and Eve story or not really give it much thought.

Those who claim that it might be proof of a common ancestor are completely wrong, since a common ancestor is the link between us and chimpanzees, unless they think that Adam and his wife who sprouted from his ribs resembled chimps.
It is a proven fact that all human beings are related.

Some people consider that evidence of a common ancestor, while others consider it evidence of Adam and Eve. When it comes down to it, it relies entirely on faith.

There was a thing on the Discovery Channel about that. They actually took seven people from a number of different races, and it turned out they were all related to one another.
Correct! I would give the writers of Genesis a break though. They were trying in a prescientific era to explain the origin of the universe and life. It's actually beautifully written. But it can no longer stand as either history or science. None of the bible can. But that doesn't mean the authors were consciously telling lies. It just means that now we study biblical literature as folklore and mythology.
You are correct.

But thankfully, evolution isn't true. Consider these facts for starters:

-- The law of biogenesis: we see creatures giving rise to their own kinds only.

-- We never see any creatures evolving into a more complex, different kind of creature. Evolution of this sort has never once been observed.

Variation within kinds which we do observe in finches, moths, etc. is not the same as amoeba-to-man evolution, and this variation within kinds has never once been seen to lead to one type of creature evolving into another. The finches remain finches and the moths remain moths. Always.

Science deals with what you can see, observe, record, test, repeat, etc.

Since it has never been seen, amoeba-to-man evolution can not be demonstrated or supported with the scientific method. The current atomic theory can; the theory of gravity can; but evolution can’t. How many experiments have been done that give convincing evidence of even one transition within amoeba-to-man evolution? None.

Amoeba-to-man evolution has never been seen, repeated, recorded, etc., so it is neither a scientific theory nor even a scientific idea. It's a conjecture, an unsupported leap of faith, and worse: a lie, since God already said how He made things.

Yes. Exactly.

And....?

.
You are absolutely correct.

If any of the fantastic and improbable miracles listed in the Bible is not true, then the whole thing is bogus.

It is either God's Word or not.

Let God be true and every man a liar.
Not only the theory of evolution, but genetics also disproves the Adam and Eve myth as well, as two sets of genes is not enough for a species to survive.
You yourself have answered wisely when you used ';If evolution were true'; and that is not true....So, the credibility of the entire Bible is retained
It means the Adam and Eve story isn't literal. In the non-literal sense of the word literal.
All mammals evolved from mole-like creatures in the last 65 million years. Whales, giraffes, humans...a pretty wide variety of mammals. 65 million years. It's your call.
Correct. That is just one of the entirely made up stories...the rest of the bible is embellished history...
If one is true then the other cannot possibly be true, you are accurate in your logic, sir.
Really, it would be impossible for all humanity to come from two people. Inbreeding isn't good.
Without God breathing life into the planet there would be no such thing as evolution.
No, there has been lots of mistakes in science. Does that mean we should just discredit all science? You don't throw something out over 1 mistake.
Church to apologize to Darwin

They're not contradictory.
pretty much. and evolution is true, the evidence is overwhelming
Pretty much.
well unless you don't believe the Bible is all that literal to start with, and just a book to help you in your faith
Yes. Thanks for the points.
well have a good look at pictures of Adam and Eve... they both have belly buttons: thats it case closed
Pretty much. So, we've already proven the Bible false, in just one story.

There is so much more we could prove false! But I'm too tired to do that.
Try going back 4000 years and saying. WE CAME OUTTA THE OCEAN!

What would happen to you?
...

YES!

DUH!
Lol and people wonder why Christians reject evolution...
