Understand that these people have little sense of self-determination and personal responsibility . They rely on the Bible as a moral compass for EVERY single choice they encounter in life.


Since they believe the Bible is God-inspired and, thus, perfect, if you were to disprove even ONE of its stories it would, in their twisted minds, discredit the whole book and, thus, leave them helpless and without direction.





That's why they defend the (alleged) truthfulness of their book so adamantly. They believe that if the idea that an invisible magic man created the Earth in 6 days is proven to be a fabrication... then so are the 10 commandments and that would mean we are all free to murder, steal and sleep with each other's wives without fear of retribution.





They fail to see that rational and enlightened men and women need no fear of coercion or damnation to behave rationally and in a civilized manner. Just check peaceful nations like Norway, Finland or Denmark, where atheism is the norm and violence, theft and rape are almost non-existent.
Some Bishop or religious 'higher up' in England made a statement the other day that evolution was valid. LOL I'd hate to have to explain to all these die-hard YECs that the original church-proposed theory was wrong...Then again, the religion managed to survive the Black Plague and other disasters an all-knowing and powerful deity would have prevented so I guess they'll get through this, too. Some people REFUSE to accept reality. Sigh.

I don't believe in creationism, but if you substitute the phrase, ';Biblical creationism'; then the other stories are irrelevant (unless, of course, one of them is true).
