McCain and the 'Cross' in Vietnam? True or false story?

Read and compare:

';Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the Russian author who spent many years in the gulag of Siberia, bears witness to the power of the cross. After long suffering in the work camp of Siberia, he fell into despair. Like other prisoners, he had worked in the fields day after day, in rain and sun, during summer and winter. His days were filled with backbreaking labor and slow starvation. On a particular day, the hopelessness of his situation became too much. He saw no reason to continue living, to continue fighting the system. He thought that the rest of his life was meaningless since he would most likely die in this Siberian prison. His life made no difference in the world. So he gave up.

Laying his shovel on the ground, he slowly walked to a crude work-site bench and sat down. He knew that at any moment a guard would order him to stand up, and when he failed to respond, the guard would beat him to death, probably with his own shovel. He had seen it happen to many other prisoners.

As he waited, head down, he felt a presence. Slowly, he lifted his eyes and saw a skinny, old prisoner squat down next to him. The man said nothing. Instead, he drew a stick through the ground at Solzhenitsyn鈥檚 feet, tracing the sign of the Cross. The man then got back up and returned to his work.

As Solzhenitsyn stared at the sign of the Cross, his entire perspective changed. He knew that he was only one man against the all-powerful Soviet empire. Yet in that moment, he knew that there was something greater than the evil that he saw in the prison, something greater than the Soviet Union. He knew that the hope of all mankind was represented in that simple Cross. And through the power of the Cross, anything was possible.

Solzhenitsyn slowly got up, picked up his shovel, and went back to work. Nothing outward had changed, but inside, he received hope.';

Here's McCain's account from the Saddleback Church transcript:

IT WAS CHRISTMAS DAY, WE WERE ALLOWED TO STAND OUTSIDE OF OUR CELL FOR A FEW MINUTES, AND THOSE DAYS WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEE OR COMMUNICATE WITH EACH OTHER ALTHOUGH WE CERTAINLY DID. AND I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE FOR MY FEW MINUTES, OUTSIDE MY CELL. HE CAME WALKING UP. HE STOOD THERE FOR A MINUTE AND WITH HIS HANDLE ON THE DIRT IN THE COURTYARD HE DREW A CROSS AND HE STOOD THERE AND A MINUTE LATER, HE RUBBED IT OUT AND WALKED AWAY. FOR A MINUTE THERE, THERE WAS JUST TWO CHRISTIANS WORSHIPPING TOGETHER. I'LL NEVER FORGET THAT MOMENT.

What a WHOPPER, JOHN!

How many of his other 'anecdotes' are 'borrowed'?McCain and the 'Cross' in Vietnam? True or false story?
That Solzhenitsyn is such a plagiarist! McCain and the 'Cross' in Vietnam? True or false story?
If the truth was found out you can bet the media would not air it.

One liners and little stories are for fairy tales.

That is not what is going to make our country the superpower that it once was. Most great thinkers are 5 levels over the average Joe and it is not easy for them to ';come down'; to their way of thinking. I believe, that is what is wrong with our country.
never ceases to amaze me how people thing there is just one Christian in the world. This type of behavior is typical of Christians, unsung kindnesses and good deeds, obviously foreign to liberals who only like to crow about being able to legally kill their own babies.

HAHA..they are EXTREMELY similar.

and here is a link to a story BY JOHN McCAIN where he sings the prasies of Solzhenitsyn.

Evidently McCain has read every word Solzhenitsyn has written!

Under the circumstances that McCain was in, this makes perfect sense. So two stories have a common theme. I'm sure you can find many more too because all the people in those camps were thinking the same thing.
Impressive stories. You can see that there are still some Christians around. Our troubles start when ';smart a.s.s.ed'; idiots (like you) try to make a mockery of truth and beliefs.
Nice try. This has been vetted over and over and is true. Too bad all the Libs have in their bag is to try and libel a war hero.

Turn off the Caps.
There's obviously similarities in the experiences of all prisoners in these situations.

Maybe both Men have been watching repeats of porridge.
many of his fellow POW back his stories...so who are YOU to question all of them?

educate yourself:

excellent question!

McCain family got rich of a liquor deal after helping to cover up the Israeli false flag attack on the USS Liberty.

There is nothing bout McCain which isn't bogus.
Obama's whole existence is a lie!

McCain 08.
I happen to be for Obama, but if McCain has a story to tell,Im not gonna get into a pissing contest over it.
Great story. Thanks for sharing.
Borrow a brain.
true.
I'm sure that a lot of prisoners of war drew crosses in the dirt, because they are not aloud to talk. I bet if you talk to every prisoner of war that they all will have a story like this. After all they made this huge sacrifice for their country and should be respected and praised for it not ridiculed by some ungrateful little brat
Only 1 person in the entire world would make a cross in the ground.

No where are there Christians who know the power of the meaning of the symbol to fellow Christians in a POW camp.

%26lt;%26lt;sacrasm off%26gt;%26gt;

You weren't there and there are many others who were in the camp with McCain who stood by his story.

Nice try Buckwheat.

McCain's story is true.

This is pure garbage. You're trying to soil a great American's name with this rediculous slander for what? You're ';mad at your daddy/establishment'; attitude that is fuelded by this nobody politician who randomly thinks he can run the free world and get back at the white man? Great values you've got there. The fact is, maybe he did hear about the story, maybe he didn't...What's to say the other man did not hear about the story and emulate it? What's to say the other man never heard that story but, did the same thing? Who cares? It's a touching and inspirational story at any rate. Stop with your desperate attempts to bring a great American down. It's shameful.
If McCain is going to ';borrow'; a story he should do so from a less famous person. He should know that many would recognize this. Let me guess, the moral majority swooned when they heard it.
let's hope mccain wins over obama.. help him out by voting for him on this page!
